Works are underway at 13-17 High Street, Wisbech, after the largest grant so far to be awarded through the Wisbech High Street Project has been agreed.
The £518,000 grant will go towards a major improvement scheme which includes bringing a derelict first floor back into use for the first time in more than 30 years. It will also carry out a considerable programme of external repairs to the fabric of the buildings and reintroduce new shopfronts which are more sympathetic to the age and character of the area.
The project has been working with the owners of this row of four properties since early 2017 to work on an improvement scheme. Planning consent has been awarded for the work and contractors are expected to make a significant start in the new year.
To learn about the history of this building have a look at the “History” pages of the website. You can also view photos taken in 2017 which show the condition of the upper floor/s at the very start of the project.
Regular updates will be featured on the website and on our Facebook and Twitter pages throughout the course of the works which are expected to be completed by late 2021.
