Coronavirus isn’t going to stop us participating in Heritage Open Days event this year! Organisers of the national event want to encourage venues to create a digital event and the Wisbech High Street Project has risen to the challenge.
For two weeks from 11th September there will be an online exhibition of old black and white photographs of Wisbech – most of which will have never been seen before. The images were found in a photo album from Fenland District Councils Engineering Departments archives and were taken between the early 1940s and the 1960s. Images include war damage, lots of images from around the town centre, the old canal and new roads and housing schemes.
In addition to the online exhibition there will be a small number of images displayed in the window of one of the High Street shops – more information to follow.
