The updated Wisbech Merchants Trail

Wisbech Merchants Trail Map
Charlotte Marshall

Over the past 2 years volunteers have been helping to update the existing trail with new information, map and images and a new stop at Wisbech General Cemetery.

Download your own copy of the booklet here. Printed copies will be available from the Wisbech and Fenland Museum as well as other popular visitor locations around town. If you have any problems getting hold of a copy please call Matt Wright on 01354 622210.

There is also a mobile app available too which has been narrated by local history author Diane Calton-Smith. Search “Wisbech Merchants Trail” on the Apple App or Google Play stores.

Comments about this page

  • The updated Merchants’ Trail booklet and map is a great addition to the existing maps and literature about the town (many of which are out of print or nearly out of stock).
The half page guides to each location are a good introduction to their history.
The inclusion of Wisbech General Cemetery Old Chapel should help visitors find their way to this often overlooked site (now restored under the leadership of Wisbech Society).
The addition of downloadable versions and an app should allow those unable to access hard copies access to the information.
The distance of the trail does not appear to be given on the hard copy and a few typos and minor errors may be spotted by local historians but the general public will find this booklet both useful and informative.
The Wisbech War Walk map to commemorate WW1 is now scarce but available to download.
The annual Official Town Guide and Map (available as a download or hard copy) produced by the town council contains much useful information about the town’s events and organisations and includes a useful street index.
